Schwartz has been appointed by the leadership of the American Law Institute (ALI) to be an advisor on its forthcoming Restatement of Torts 3rd Remedies and Concluding Issues projects. He is author of the leading text Comparative Negligence (6th ed. Schwartz is co-author of the most widely used torts casebook in the United States, Prosser, Wade and Schwartz’s Torts (14th ed. He received the Secretary of Commerce’s Award for Professional Excellence. He was the principal author of the Uniform Product Liability Act and the Federal Risk Retention Act.
